Highlands Scotland Tour

A fantastic Spring visit to the Scottish highlands for 7 days. We stay in the very comfortable accommodation at The Grant Arms in Grantown-in-Spey, lovely rooms and great food, with great birding sites close by.

On this tour we will aim to see all of the Scottish specialities species, the main target birds usually seen are Golden Eagle, White-tailed Eagle, Ptarmigan, Black Grouse, Crested Tit, Scottish Crossbill, Osprey, Slavonian Grebe, Hooded Crow, Ring Ouzel and Wood Warbler.

Also recorded regularly White-billed Diver, Black Throated Diver,  Bottle-nosed Dolphin, Pine Marten and Red Deer. There is an excellent diversity of birds, with around 110-120 species of birds recorded during all of our previous five visits. Add to this the wonderful scenery, this is a enchanting trip!

Capercaillie - we will not be looking for this species!

As human disturbance threatens to push Capercaillie closer to extinction with only 542 left in the UK, birdwatchers, photographers and wildlife guides are being urged by RSPB and others to not go looking for Capercaillie in the handful of forests where the birds remain in the Cairngorms National Park.

Disturbance can stop Capercaillie from breeding and cause unnecessary stress to the birds. Protected under UK law, it is a criminal offence to disturb Capercaillie whilst they are lekking, nesting and raising young.

We along with many other Tour companies have taken to support the RSPB what we think is the right and responsible approach to not search out Capercaillies and risk affecting the breeding success of the species.
