Autumn Bird Tours in Norfolk

Autumn Tours are a very exciting time for bird watching in Norfolk. Migration gets under way in August and carries on all through the autumn to November.

With autumn migration in Norfolk, comes scarce and rare birds plus high tide roosts, wader & seabird passage! Each year we are guaranteed the spectacle of thousands of birds passing along our coastline and this combined with
the excitement of the unknown means this is the most popular time for visiting birders!

September Tour

September for passage waders, including Little Stint & Curlew Sandpiper plus occasional vagrant waders. Skua and seabird passage in the right conditions. Regular passage migrants Wheatear, Whinchat, Redstart & often some of the scarcer passage birds include Wryneck & Shrikes. Arctic & Greenish warblers early in the month followed by the Siberian vagrants in the last days of the month. Its just a great time to be in Norfolk!

November Tours

November for later rare birds, such as the Issabelline Wheatear we saw in November 2019 & the Stejneger's Stonechat in November 2018, this alongside big arrivals of geese, wildfowl & shorebirds. It can also be very good for thrush and Owl arrivals  in off the North sea with falls of birds along the coast in the right weather conditions. In years when there are Waxwing invasion November often seens good numbers arriving that are transient and then move off inland.
