January 19th – Exclusive Norfolk Birding day for 4 people
A lovely day out in North Norfolk with a group of four for an exclusive day.
We started with some nice Fieldfare, Redwing & Mistle Thrush, then 2 Goshawk sightings. Moving up to the coast we had a mixed finch flock of c500 finches, including some nice Brambling, plus a showy Water Rail – sat in a tree!! Also Woodcock and a Cattle Egret nearby. The Red-breasted Goose eventually gave us nice views at Cley along with hundreds of Dark-b-Brents, also thousands of Pink-footed Geese overhead.
We rounded off beautifully with 2-3 Merlin, including a nice adult male, a ringtail Hen Harrier, 7 Marsh Harrier, plus the Pallid Harrier, great prolonged views tonight, perched briefly before great flyby (thanks Mike Buckland!). Then a Barn owl and Woodcock to round off!
Paul Varney helped with the guiding today and also grabbed some nice pictures as you can see below!
