The "Yellowlegs" Collection
The Lesser Yellowlegs at Thornham had to be one of the tamest american waders seen in the last few years, certainly the tamest I have seen in Norfolk.
Interestingly, the bird seemed to have adapted this strategy initially to limit the attentions of the local Redshanks whom constantly attacked it during it's first few days of residence. After the crowds had gone on Saturday 20th January just myself and Richard Brroks were left photographing it, during this period the bird fed naturally and was approaching us down to 1.2m, unfortunatley I was then unable to focus on the bird at such close range!!
We were able to get some nice photographs in favourable light. A selection of these are below
