December 7th Sennowe
Had walk along the edge of the estate & lake. 1 Little Grebe, 3 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Little Egret, 60 Greylag, 2 Egyptian Goose, 20 Wigeon, 80 Teal, 1 Pintail, 10 Pochard, 40 Tufted Duck, 3 Goldeneye, 2 Buzzard, 1 Sparrowhawk, 20 Great black-backed Gull, 80 Stock Dove, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Nuthatch, 2 Treecreeper, 3 Marsh Tit, 20 Long-tailed Tit, 3 Marsh Tit, 5 Goldcrest, 5 Rdpoll, 10 Siskin, 100 Pied Wags & 250 Fieldfare.
December 8th Holme
A wander from Thornham to Holme resulted in 2 Barn owls & 2 Water Rails fighting in one of the ditches. In the dunes & saltings I found a nice but mobile flock of 65 Snow Buntings. A walk along the shoreline and a look on the sea; 1 Red-necked Grebe flew west, 2 Rd-breasted mergansers flew west & another was sat just offshore, 30 Grey Plover, 100 Knot & 60 Dunlin. Also 2 Seal pups were well up the beach behind NOA.
December 9th Bintree Mill
Best birds here was a nice flock of 120 Siskin, also 1 Water Rail & 2 Tree creeper, 2 Marsh tit, 2 Egyptian Goose.
Also a return visit to Sennowe similar numbers as on the 7th, but 5 Pintail & 40 Wigeon.
Good day in the garden with 200 Pink feet over east early am, then Tree Sparrow & 2 Nuthatches at the feeders.
